About this event

In the Kaat’s Cradle Theater Series, local and visiting theater artists present original performances on the stage of Kaat’s Cradle, housed at the carriage house theater space located at 76 Main St. in Stamford, NY. Events between July and September offer audiences the opportunity to access unique live arts experiences in the quirky, intimate theater space.

From dance, theater and clowning to a live reading of a TV pilot, the Kaats Cradle Theater Series has something for everyone! These work-in-progress showings allow artists to bring an audience to their projects for the first time and allows audiences to participate in the development of innovative performance, getting a behind-the-scenes at how productions come to life.

July 2, 2pm – Jeca Rodríguez-Colón – Multi-disciplinary artist and philosopher with a dance and choreography background presents a work-in-progress showing and artist talk.

August 26, 2pm – Gerry Trentham – Choreographer and interdisciplinary performing artist shows original works and presents an interactive movement workshop.

September 2, 7pm – Funny Business – Writing collective Funny Business presents a staged reading of scenes from their new original TV series “Bloc” about a group of anarchists dealing with the bumbling FBI on their trail.

September 23, 7pm – Glo McDonald – Theater artist Glo McDonald presents scenes from an original performance exploring the role of aging women in the public eye through the quirky, unlikely story of Annie Edson Taylor, the first person to survive a ride over Niagara Falls during the Pan American Exposition at Buffalo in 1901.

This project is made possible with funds from the Delaware County Arts Grants, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered in Delaware County by the Roxbury Arts Group.
