DANCING WITH HORSES: A Workshop in The Catskills -November 5th – 7th

The Equus Projects and BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance are pleased to announce a truly unique workshop at the Middlebrook Arts Research + Residency Center in Jefferson, NY this November. Join them to explore the interspecies dialogue between humans and equines with Equus Projects Artistic Director JoAnna Mendl Shaw in collaboration with the popular Catskill equestrian, equine trainer and musician, Dan McCarthy of Catskill Natural Horse.

Saturday, November 6th: A Workshop for Equestrians:

A morning session with equines introduces movement explorations, improvisation techniques that Shaw uses to create performance works with horses, and McCarthy’s unique approach to merging music and horsemanship to develop a rhythmic connection to the horse. In an afternoon studio session at Middlebrook, we deepen the embodied experience, exploring in a beautiful open studio space without horses.

DANCERS: YOU CAN ALSO BE A PART OF THIS WORKSHOP!

Come and audit the morning equine session and join equestrians in the studio on Saturday afternoon.

Sunday, November 7th workshop is for dancers who have always dreamed of dancing with a horse!

The day begins with hands-on equine experiences led by Shaw and McCarthy, followed by a studio session at Middlebrook where Shaw, joined by guest dance artist, Teresa Fellion (https://bodystoriesfellion.org/). The afternoon movement session will translate the morning paddock experiences into choreographic explorations.

We encourage auditors to come and observe both workshops!
