We All Of Us: August 20-22

We All of Us features four characters telling stories from a dystopian world.

The Rexmere Park green becomes an outdoor stage for the premiere of an original performance, ‘We All of Us,’ featuring four characters from a dystopian world sharing their stories on four separate stages for a roving audience.

Sipper, Smoker, Senator and Swindler are four storytellers describing not so unfamiliar scenarios of environmental disaster, spiritual cycles, political chaos, and economic uncertainty. They each represent a facet of today’s social struggles hyperbolized and stylized, inspired by medieval morality plays and science fiction with playful interactive elements. In a parallel universe not so different from our own, the air and water are no longer safe to drink, but at least there’s plenty of tea (even if it’s genetically modified)! The familiar religions we practice now on Earth no longer exist, but something else always replaces that void. The political system functions perfectly because of a new, highly efficient government program known as “OPERATION JUSTICE,” which melds each individual mind with a universal database. Lastly, a series of unexpected disasters, from unusually powerful storms to unpredictable disease leads folks to extreme measures for survival, often smudging the lines of the law.

Part play, part installation, part diorama, ‘We All of Us’ is a contemporary piece by Stamford local Marisa Caruso in collaboration with local actors Sarah Hagakore, Gabriel Faure-Brac, Betty Tash and Jonathan Saminski, costume designer Bee Murphy and technical director Aree Bray. Performances will take place on the Rexmere Park green from 8pm-9pm August 20-22, 2021.
